Girl Guides
Guiding is a game of adventure, observation, knowledge and ideas. It is an education in life skills that will encourage each girl to be a responsible citizen and to lead a useful life.
Our guiding activities are planned to provide our girls with opportunities in character development, leadership and practical skills.
Regular guide meetings are held weekly. The activities may be challenging and adventurous at times but always with a tinge of fun in it. They include camps, obstacle journeys, outdoor cooking, rural hikes, first aid and other joint activities with the scouts. Besides these, we take part in enjoyable and exciting courses like canoeing.
Beyond activities in school, our company also participates actively in HQ activities like performing in the 90 th anniversary gala dinner, setting up booth during the Guides Carnival at OrchardScape and having friendly competition with guides from other schools during the East Division Day. Our girls get to interact with guides from other companies and benefit greatly from these experiences.
Our 2007 Achievements include Puan Noor Aishah Award Gold and Bronze. In 2006, our team did us proud by emerging first runner up in the National Camp Challenge.
With a strength of 100 girls, our company consists of 8 different patrols, namely Dove, Orchid, Sparrow, Jasmine, Kingfisher, Ixora, Oriole and Sunflower.
Girl Guides is more than a CCA to many of our guides! Let the guiding light shine!

NPCC
Dunman High School National Police Cadet Corps is among the upper echelons of the numerous NPCC units in Singapore. Since its establishment in 1962, we have constantly been improving by leaps and bounds every year. Now, DHSNPCC has developed into a Unit with a strength of 120 cadets, and our sights are set further than ever before.
Our vision is to nurture leaders of the future and to provide a conducive environment for developing more initiative, nurturing more commitment, developing a sense of responsibility, instilling pride in the unit, and developing a good team player.
In June 2007, DHSNPCC will be celebrating our 45 th Anniversary, an important milestone to be added to the pages of our history. It is a mark of how far our Unit has come since 1962, and cadets from both now and the past can bear testimony to this.
Our activities fall on 2 Fridays and 1 Saturday every month. During the activities, cadets are exposed to various programmes which include footdrill, campcraft, and physical training. Cadets will also be trained to handle a live .22 revolver, and visit police establishments like the Home Team Academy (HTA), Criminal Investigation Department (CID), and the Police Dog Unit which are out-of-bounds to the general public. NPCC HQ also organizes courses such as Civil Defence, Police Knowledge and SANA. Yearly camps include our Annual Leisure Camp, Adventure Training Camp in Pulau Ubin, and Outward Bound Singapore, which train our cadets to step out of their comfort zone.
Here in DHSNPCC, we believe in the holistic development of the future leaders of the country. We have organized community service projects like newspaper collections, selling memorabilia for charity, interacting with old folks and educating the nearby neighbourhoods about crime prevention in order to develop cadets with good moral values, who know how to give back to society. Enriching school unit courses such as Aikido, Kayaking and Archery were also organized in order for cadets to gain lifeskills outside the boundaries of their classrooms.

Scouts
2007 started off with Dunman High Crane Scout Troop preparing for Year 1 Orientation. Together with Girl Guides, we built various structures at different stations for the Year 1s to play and experience what scouting was all about. In February, we participated in the National Scout Pioneering competition in various events, like, Bridge, Logging, Sour Grapes, 3-2-1 Flag Pole and Roman Chariot.
We emerged champions for Sour Grapes and Roman Chariot, and runners-up for Bridge. Weeks of preparation had paid off.
The boys worked tireless but with a sense of pride in their job week during the March holidays. We had been best earners in the East District for the past 2 years and hopefully retain that honour again this year.
We got to know more about Singapore by bus in April. Besides that, we had Ubin Hike and overnight camp in May and ended the first semester with a Patrol Leaders¡¯ Training Camp, which was a 3D 2N event to train and impart skills to year 3s to take over the leadership mantle from the outgoing year 4s.
Our Lion Dance Troupe, which comprises specially selected scouts, had been tasked to perform in numerous occasions to welcome important guests to our school and perform difficult stunts like ¡®Dan Jiao¡¯ (standing on the other¡¯s thigh on one foot). Our year 4 students also put up an eye-opening Chinese New Year performance this year as the audience held their breath in anticipation.
Last but not least our Lion Dance Troupe led a group of 40 ex and current students to ¡®Plucking the Green¡¯ in celebration of the Lunar New Year. The event lasted a day and a total of 11 houses were visited.
At the end of the fun and good learning experience everyone gathered for a good reunion dinner to reward themselves.
