Knowledge Skill Programme DHP Academy Knowledge Skill Programme

The KSP is a developmental approach to inculcating interdisciplinary problem-based learning skills in students to develop them into critical thinkers. Through a rigorous programme, students nurture their ability to put forth arguments that are sound, logical and fair, to analyse data critically, while being conscious of the ideological and sociological biases in society.

At Year One, students learn the skills in creative problem-solving. They are given the opportunity to select a research topic within their area of interest, and to craft out a research problem. They are then taught research skills to enable them to carry out and complete a research project in depth. They are guided by assessment rubrics based on Arthur Costa's Habits of Mind. Each student works closely with a Teacher-mentor. In Year Two, they take part in programmes that develop their enterprise and innovative spirit. In Years Three and Four, students are exposed to the world of investment. Students will also embark on an Overseas Immersion Programme in Year Three where they will get to select from a range of different countries to visit, some as far as the United States or Europe . In Year Four they are provided the opportunity to engage in a long-term research science or social sciences mentorship scheme or service learning project with professors and practitioners.

Parallel to the cognitive development of our students is the development of the affective component of knowledge. At Year One, each student participates in Community Involvement Programme (CIP). In Year Three, they learn to engage in active citizenry by participating in the Moot Parliament Programme (MPP), researching a bill and engaging in parliamentary-style debate to defend their bill. By Year Four, they have gained sufficient skills to participate in a Mock United Nations Conference where they role-play international diplomats, learning to sharpen their skills of negotiation and communication.

The curriculum in Years Five and Six is in line with the GCE ¡®A' level Project Work curriculum.
