The Year 4 Level Camp, with its theme of ¡°Odyssey ¨C Your Journey¡¯s Just Beginning¡±, was held from 7 th to 11 th of May 2007. This theme accurately reflected the level camp as it was indeed a long and exciting journey for the Year 4s but more importantly, this theme aptly described the Year 4s having travelled 4 long years together in Dunman High School and are about to embark on a new and exciting journey when they enter Year 5. Their journey indeed is just beginning!
This was the first time that a level camp has stretched to 5 days and there were initial concerns from students (and teachers!) alike that it might be too long! Judging from the enthusiastic responses from students (and teachers), it was clear that almost everyone had a great time indulging in the various activities such as batik printing and kite-flying and learning more about the traditional culture and way of life of the Malays living along the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia. The Year 4s were even hosted to dinner by the State of Terengganu ! Many students wished that the camp stretched to beyond a week!
Appreciation of Malaysian culture, fun-filled activities and scrumptious food aside, the Year 4s got to appreciate a different perspective of life away from the city. Moreover through this camp, they also got to develop and strengthen their sense of camaraderie and hone their leadership (and singing!) skills.
All in all, this level camp has turned out to be such a blast and has also succeeded in fulfilling its objective in strengthening the Dunmanian character.
