The year 2008 celebrated not only the Beijing Olympic Games, but also our inaugural ¡°DHS Olympics: Together we run the race¡±, as our Year
Ones began their 6-years race in DHS. As young Athletes, these Year Ones were inducted into the DHS Family by their Captains (the student
facilitators) and Coaches (the teachers). Throughout the Orientation camp, our Captains and Coaches took pride in inculcating our young
Athletes with the Olympic values of excellence, friendship and respect. |
 |
To mark the induction of our young Athletes into our DHS Family, a simple yet formal badge-pinning ceremony
was held on the first day of school. In the presence of the whole school community, every one of our young
Athletes would have their school badge pinned on personally by their Form Teacher. |
Following the ceremony, the 3-days orientation camp was officially started with an ¡°Athletes¡¯ Get-Together¡± (Ice Breakers) where Athletes interacted and got to know one another and their Captains through games and more games! |
 |
To get our Athletes familarise with the school culture and environment, special training in ¡°The Athletes¡¯ Code of Conduct¡± (School Rules) was provided by our Coaches (the Year 1 Form Teachers). All our Athletes also got to ¡°Tour around the Olympia¡± (School tour) too!? Athletes were required to solve several jigsaw puzzles which reveal pictures of different locations around the school. They would then proceed to these different locations where the exciting station games await them.

Now, our Athletes were all ready for the ¡°DHS Olympic Games¡± (Telematch)! Just like all other official Olympic Games, our very own ¡°DHS
Olympic Games¡± was formally declared open by our Chief Coach (Principal, Mr Sng). During the Opening Ceremony, each class will have a
flag bearer to parade their class flag, followed by our Olympics torch bearer.
 |
 |
To celebrate the achievements of our Athletes in the Olympics Games, a ¡°Banquet for the Victors¡± (Dinner celebration) was thrown on the last day of the camp
as all our Athletes, Captains and Coaches came together to ¡°Call for Celebration¡± (Concert), with singing and dancing! Great class spirit was fostered too as
the classes gave their best in the class cheer and mascot competitions.
 |
The night ended with a video recollecting the wonderful moments that our Athletes have had in the past 3 days of camp. Indeed, together, all our Athletes had
began to run the Olympic race and with conviction, they will continue to run this long race together!
